Miriam was born and raised in Germany; but made Brooklyn, NY home in 2000. Miriam holds a degree in Fine Arts and Graphic Design; she worked as a designer for a prominent art gallery her first years in NYC. She started to bake creative cakes for friends and family for their special events in her spare-time. Her inventive designs and delicious cakes began to attract a lot of attention, leading to the decision in 2008 to go into the custom cake business full-time. Miriam decided to give her fellow New Yorkers a slice of her talent and started BCakeNY (from BKNY for Brooklyn New York). Her delicious creations reflect her European taste for a moist cake that has just the right amount of sweetness. Her designs are influenced by the diverse art, people, and cultures of Brooklyn!
Director of Finance
Garnett was born to an Ethiopian mother and Trinidadian father, and traveled the world before moving to Brooklyn at 10 years old. She has been in love with the borough ever since! The tedium of Political Science at Brooklyn College with hopes of becoming a Real Estate Attorney was not the path for her. However, she loved the hustle & bustle of small business and wanted to venture out on her own. After opening several small businesses, she found the most success in opening The Candy Rush, a vintage candy and ice cream store in Crown Heights. It was through this venture that Garnett met Miriam and a friendship was born. She currently serves as the Director of Finance, while also consulting with clients.
